Role: Lead Educator

Salary: 20 -24k pro rata (0.4 -2 days a week - with likely increase in hours from September 2022)

Location: Home based and Cymbrogi HQ, Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire.

Start: February - May 2022 depending on candidate availability - initial 3 month probationary period

We have developed a blended approach to sustainable learning, a hybrid of online and onsite learning making the most of our online presence and our amazing site situated in Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire, that enables students, educators, community activists and organisations to:

  • Enable more sustainable futures


​To achieve this we have developed a range of workshops, residential programmes and online learning modules guided by our Cymbrogi Learning Compass and the Cymbrogi Core Four which focus on Sustainable and Circular Futures, Wellbeing, Creativity and Collaboration.


We are looking for:

An enthusiastic and self-motivated person who enjoys working with children (aged 8-18) and adults alike, and relishes the opportunities presented by delivering high quality learning experiences and wow moments in outdoor settings.


This is a unique opportunity to join Cymbrogi as a pioneering team member, play a fundamental role in our growth as a start-up and aspiring B-corp and to shape the growth of our organisation. To achieve our vision we need diverse teams of staff who have a wide range of skills, a real passion for the work of the organisation and a pride in their role within it. We will provide regular staff training and provide opportunity, encouragement and funding to further your skills set and further professional qualifications relevant to an evolving role.


Key responsibilities:


Design - Contributing to the design of workshops and programmes linked to an area of interest e.g. Sustainable Futures, Nature pedagogy, Creativity.


Delivery - Supporting and in time leading the delivery of sessions on the Young Changemaker, Tomorrow's Changemaker and Educator programmes.


Site/Centre operations and support - Leading on the day-to-day planning and coordination of the site's development and supporting the practical delivery of activities on site in Lawrenny. This will include helping to ensure the smooth running of the operational and programmatic aspects - including facilities such as the compost loo, classrooms and storage.


Networking - Helping to establish and maintain a network of potential collaborators and champions in support of Design, Delivery and Centre management.


About You

You will:

  • Ideally have a degree or equivalent in a STEAM or Social Science discipline.

  • Experience of educating/working with children is essential, as is experience of producing and delivering teaching materials that can meet the current requirements of our learning offer.

  • Be a team player, have an excellent work ethic and strong communication and detail-focused organisational skills. You will be able to demonstrate management skills and ideally have previous experience of developing and leading a team.

  • Be open to flexible working hours, able to manage your time across the week to meet emerging needs, and an evolving delivery schedule. A proportion of your time will be working remotely however you will need to be within easy commuting distance of Cymbrogi HQ in order to manage the site and deliver a schedule of workshops and programmes as and when scheduled.

  • A recognised Teaching Qualification, ability to speak Welsh and a current driving license would be preferable.
